Well today, we did verify that Cleveland does in fact rock. At least at Jacobs Field and more particularly at the rock and roll hall of fame. And, in case you were wondering, there were no zombie attacks today.
After breakfast we walked over to Jacobs Field, home of the Cleveland Indians, where we took a ballpark tour. If you've never done one of these ballpark tours, do one, they're really cool. (I've taken tours of the stadiums in San Fran and Houston in the past). We saw some interesting parts of Jacobs Field (it's a very nice stadium) and even got to go on the field, well, at least to the edge of it, but it's really nice. By the way, walking to the stadium, the streets were quiet and there were zombie concerns.
After, we walked by Quicken Arena (lame name) to Tower Center an indoor mall where, I bought a PSP game (Capcom Puzzle League, it includes the game Buster Bros, one of the best games ever made for the Sega Genesis) of all things. We grabbed a quick lunch there too.
After, I used my instinct to guide us around (works almost as well as GPS sometimes) and wound up finding a small fair or something, where in the space of a quarter block we got free ice cream, free bratwurst sandwiches and a bunch of free cans of Jolt energy drink which I suspect will be useful in getting me back to NJ on Friday. Amazing what you can find when you wander around.
Dropped the loot (we also got local things at that fair like mouse pads etc) off at the hotel and made our way over to the science center. This place was a science museum for kids, but oddly (or typically for me, you'll decide in a second) the traveling exhibit from the baseball hall of fame, Baseball in America was there too. What's odd is that I went to the same exhibit 2 years ago in Washington DC, (with the Yankee crew and we stayed at what was possibly the worst hotel in the world). Who knew? It's a great exhibit though, you should see it if you randomly find it at your museum one day.
Next up, we wandered around a park at the edge of the Lake Erie and then decided to do some rocking and/or rolling at the Rock and Roll hall of Fame. This is a place definitely worth visiting. Some great artifacts on display and you can spend quite some time there.
After, we went back to the hotel and got the car. Headed over to Fat Fish Blue (http://www.fatfishblue.com/) which was recommended to us by every person we asked in Cleveland. Well worth it, live music and good food.
Quick note here, one thing we've been doing on this trip is we've been asking locals where to eat and what to do. They always seems to come up with some great suggestions.
Overall, Cleveland is an odd place. Very quiet for a big city, and it is a big city in terms of buildings and size, but desolate after 5PM. Rock and Roll hall of fame and Jacobs Fields are stops worth making though.
This has been a busy week, I'm starting to get tired, but we have one more stop....Pittsburgh
