The day started out with Meg picking us up at 10:30 to take us out to Naperville, IL (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naperville,_Illinois) After catching up on everything we headed out to lunch at Rose Bud, where we had some excellent and filling Italian food. Next we took a tour of Naperville, and it's a very nice town, well worth visiting. There's a cool riverwalk there that we took pix of. One of these days, I'll actually post said pictures...We had a great time and it was a great way to spend the afternoon.
By the way, you'll notice that new little notepad thingy, those are the twitter updates I have mentioned previously. Found a way to get them on the blog. Just a quick little way for me to send a note of where I am at that moment.
Anyway, after Meg's husband took graciously took us back. We made our way over to State Street and did a little shopping. We stopped a Marshall Fields (now Macy's, bring back the old name!) and took a look at the store. It's an amazing store to go into and see. From there, we found the Barnes and Noble at Depaul University and shockingly, I bought more books. Also bought a really cool mini Atari joystick that has 2 games built into it. Yes folks, the geeking never quite stops. At this point, I've bought enough books to fill a small library.
From there, we headed over to Union Station, where I showed Marlene the staircase made famous in the movie the Untouchables. From there, we headed back to hotel as it was intermittently monsooning all day today (glad we went to the air show yesterday).
Finished up the night with some appetizers at Elephant & Castle where you get some good food at good price. When in Chicago, go there...
By the way, forgot to mention this yesterday, but the first place I took Marlene was Millers Pub (see the post from way back when or that pic on the right). I had to show her the place where my butt was handed to me on a plate.
Now let me see if I can some pictures up here
Tomorrow: Museums (we think)
