Up at 8 or so on Saturday, we pack and have a loooooong breakfast with Seth, Mar, the rest of the Americans and varying family members of Mar who stayed at the hotel.
A few weeks ago, I made the (semi) wise decision to get a hotel at the Mexico City airport the night before since we had a 9:45 AM flight on Sunday. So, Mar and Seth drop us off at the bus station in Cuernavaca and we catch the 2:01 PM bus to Mexico City Airport.
Oddly, as we get on, the females who are riding are given a goody bag that contains 3 boxes of dulcolax and some feminine products. What an odd giveaway at an odd place. Imagine getting a goody bag like that at the Port Authority of NY?
The bus ride to Mexico City includes the normal bottle of soda a small cookie. The movie of the ride is the 3rd Pirates of the Caribbean Movie.
There's a LOT of traffic so the trip takes an extra half hour, but we get to Terminal 1 of Mexico City airport. I booked us a room at the Hilton which is literally IN the airport, as in it's on the fourth floor of Terminal 1. So, can't beat the location. We check in, the room isn't bad, not too small, not very big, but it has little extras like toothbrushes and slippers and robes. We drop our stuff off, which isn't much, we packed light for the trip - 1 garment bag, 1 small suitcase and carry ons for Marlene and I. Then, we walk around terminal 1. We figure, why not? It's the first time we've every stayed IN an airport, so we figure to live it up.
Did I mention that this our 5 year anniversary is today? We have an odd way of celebrating...
After wandering around the terminal, we head back to the room for a few minutes and then contemplate dinner. We figure to grab something at the airport since we're both very very tired.
Oddly, we wind up eating at the hotel itself. It works out well as the restaurant is empty aside from us, so it turns out to be a good anniversary meal.
After dinner, we're both beat so we go to sleep.

Up at 7AM, checked out of hotel at 7:30. The room hypothetically had air conditioning, but it didn't keep the room cool. Ugh. So, not a great hotel, but it was clean....
Took the air train over to terminal 2 and got checked in.
Flight was boring, I watched the Avengers 2 (animation) and some of Star Wars Episode 3.
We landed at JFK at 3:10 PM, and didn't get to the car until 5PM. Immigration was quick oddly, but waiting for the baggage and a gate delay added to the time. We made it home by 5:45PM. Which means it took longer to get from the airplane to the car than it took to drive 52 miles from JFK airport to NJ. Go figure.
At home, we sorted through mail and spent quality time with the dog.
Next up, the normal follow up post!
