We stopped again at Starbucks (see a trend?) and made our way towards Coolidge, east of Phoenix. We stopped at Casa Grande, which was a house made in prehistoric times. This thing was older than Christ, and was a site to see.

Casa Grande - a really old building
What was cool about this trip out there was that going there we hit the really desolate desert roads which are fun to drive. Some great views from there. From Coolidge, we made our way North, driving through some mostly desolate desert highways.
We decided to stop at the Botanical Gardens in Tempe/Phoenix because we were there. It was very hot, but well worth the trip as you can see from the pic below. The botanical gardens had a bit of everything, and was a nice stopover.

From there, I knew I had to show Marlene the Cabela's store, as it was life changing event for me, so I could imagine her take. So, we headed over to Glendale, and after stopping at the McFarlane store (again), and watching the fountains show, we had lunch at a place called Moe's which had some good southwestern fast food. Good stuff. Then, onto Cabela's. Marlene was skeptical about how much it would impact her, but when she saw it, she admitted I was right. The store is still ridiculously large, and surreal, especially from a kid from Brooklyn (now NJ). We saw the exhibits we had, some pics are below for your viewing pleasure. If you ever have a chance to go to Cabela's, go, now.

A store, with animals (real, but not alive...)

See? Something for everyone here
After Glendale, we headed back to the hotel, rested for a bit. Then went out and got lost for a bit. We would up eating at the Bamboo Club, an Asian Bistro. After a stop at Barnes and Noble, we headed back to the hotel.
