I've been a NY Yankees fan for a long time, even in the days when Wayne Tolleson was shortstop during the dark times called the 1980's.
So when I get to see a great game, it makes life good. Last night was such a game. Under the headlines that A-Rod is getting a divorce (not shocking, he was married to a woman who wore a shirt saying f&*# you to Yankee stadium (read the story here: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2923254) was a great game.
Yankees - Red Sox games are always good, and last night we had a game that had them both tied at 4 going into the bottom of the 10th inning, until a rookie knocks in the winning run with a single. Great way to end the night...
...And a great way to ruin the hope and dreams of some obnoxious 12 year old boy Red Sox fan who was sitting 2 rows in front of us. You know things are messed up when there are 2 12-year old boys with a family and the kid that's the Yankee fan is the subdued one. Mr. Obnoxious 12 year old fan was really into the Red Sox. There's nothing wrong with that, but he was OBNOXIOUS. For someone to stand out as obnoxious at Yankee Stadium, you really have to go that extra mile. The kid was yelling Yankee Sucks (nice job of raising the kid by the parents!) and was getting in the fans faces when ever the Sox did good. Oddly, his same aged Yankee cohort was relatively subdued (again, a very odd thing).
He got real quiet however when Manny Ramirez just watched 3 pitches go right by him for a strikeout in the 9th with a runner on 3rd base, and was particularly crushed when the Yanks came back for the win.
Now, I'm not one to wish badness upon obnoxious 12-year olds. Oh, wait, no, I am. But, it's so very nice when karma plays out. What amazed me is that his so-called parents/guardians let the kid go at it. At Yankee Stadium? Maybe they hated him and were just hoping that someone would take him out? One only wonders...
But what kills me is that us Yankee fans get this rap as being a tad mean, (we are, but the insults that are thrown are oddly creative), while the Sox fans are supposed to be civilized. Obviously this is some new version of civilized that I'm not quite aware of, proof:

I'm guessing they take their baseball realllllllllllly serious up in Mass.
