The Todd Tour continues! This week, I'm in Dallas, Texas. Got here on Tuesday and had a slightly eventful flight.
Things were going well, we even sort of left on time from Newark. Which, was odd. Then, as we got closer to Dallas, the captain announces:
(In pilot drawl)
Something along the lines of:
"Well, it seems there's a bit of weather in Dallas and they have closed the Dallas Forth Worth airport for now, but, as we don't have enough fuel to circle around, we're going to have to divert to Dallas Love Field."
"Ok", I'm thinking, that's a tad odd, but we'll see what happens. The part that kinda concerned me was that whole lack of fuel thing. Not really reassuring. But, since there wasn't really much I could do, I just let it play out.
Luckily a few minutes later the pilot announces that DFW is in fact open for arrivals and they seemed to kind enough to let us land there. And so we did.
But, that lack of fuel thing...
The rest of Tuesday was spent going into the office and getting things squared away for the training I was doing the next day. This time, I'm staying a the Sheraton downtown (formerly called the Adam's Mark Hotel).
I like this hotel.
I think because I was upgraded to a suite. That might have something to do with it.
Yeah, got me a suite with a bedroom, living room, desk, entry way and for some odd reason, a teeny tiny bathroom. But I do appreciate the space.
And the Club room where I'm able to get snacks at night, and some breakfast in the morning. And bottles of water and stuff. That's good.
Dinner on Tuesday was with Cynthia, her husband, her son Aidan, and the newest member of her brood, Megan. That Megan is a cutie....We ate at a place called the Saltgrass Steakhouse (in Cedar Hill), not a bad place, and I had a Texas Cheesteak, that was good. (http://www.saltgrass.com/)
Wednesday, I taught all day, and had dinner with my old colleage Linda and her son. Dinner was at El Fenix in Downtown Dallas. (http://www.elfenix.com/) where I had some good Mexican food.
I may not dig being away from my wife and the little furball but I do like the food when I travel.
Shockingly, no books have been purchased on this trip...
More to come
